Best Dressed at the 2016 Golden Globes

It’s my favorite season of the year — red carpet season! And what better way to start off the year than with the 73rd Annual Golden Globes?

As I watched the live red carpet and waited for the photos to come in, I started an excel sheet with a list of my favorite dresses. I’m still sitting here wondering how I’m going to narrow it down to a few dresses, but I’m sure I’ll get through it somehow.

Along the 2016 Golden Globes red carpet, I saw a lot of white, red, and gold gowns as well as sequins and capes and most of them did not disappoint!

GAME CHANGERS:

After last year in her simple yet stunning black Badgley Mishka gown, Gina Rodriguez kept it dark with a navy, off the shoulder dress by Zac Posen. She walked the red carpet confidently and that is what I love about her. The Neil Lane jewelry complimented the look and just like Gina, I’d want to keep it too. Also, I admire the fact that this dress has pockets.

Zendaya is the fashion icon of her generation and I know she will continue to set the standards. She wants to change the game and I don’t doubt that she will. She wore a burgundy Marchesa dress and to me she would be the only one that could pull it off!

STAY GOLD:

Best Actress Brie Larsen was golden at the Globes! When I first saw her walk the red carpet, I thought she looked stunning and immediately knew that she would be one of my top picks. This gown was custom made by Calvin Klein and she rocked it! Brie wasn’t the only one to go gold. Eva Green also decided to go gold with sequins in a lace Ellie Saab gown and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stunned in a gold Atelier Versace gown.

QUEENS OF WESTEROS:

Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer decided to go with a red, off the shoulder J. Mendel gown. It was held up by a black neck piece and if you know me black and red is my favorite color combination. However, I almost kind of wish it was a silver/diamond neck piece, but I guess that would’ve been too predictable. Dormer’s GoT co-star Emilia Clarke also stunned with a black Valentino gown and she definitely looked like a Khaleesi with that cape!

FUNNY GIRLS:

Remember when I was talking about Natalie Dormer’s red gown with the black neck piece? Well Jennifer Lawrence was also rocking a red gown, but with a silver neck piece. I may be biased because I absolutely love J. Law. But come on, don’t you agree that she looked amazing in Dior? I love the little peek-a-boo cutouts on the side (I have no knowledge of fashion terms..can you tell? hehe). It’s elegant, yet sexy — very suiting for the Best Actress in a Comedy movie.

J. Law’s newest BFF Amy Schumer looked quite pretty on the red carpet as well. Actually, her black and white Prabal Gurung dress sort of reminded me a lot of Blake Lively’s Gucci dress from the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. I loved that dress, so this dress also stood out to me.

VISIONS IN WHITE:

Lily James is beautiful in a sheer Marchesa gown. She may not have had the iconic Cinderella gown with glass slippers, but she was still an angelic vision in white.

At first I was on the fence with Alicia Vikander‘s Louis Vuitton dress but after a while it grew on me. She looked very poised and elegant. How an actress carries herself on the red carpet definitely contributes to how great a dress looks.

Laverne Cox always kills it on the red carpet. For her first time at the Globes she decided to go with a white Elizabeth Kennedy gown. The only thing that worries me is the train and someone stepping on it. I would cry if I saw a footprint or something.

CLASSIC BEAUTIES:

I will always admire Sophia Bush. She will always be Brooke Davis to me. Sophia was chosen to present an award tonight and she kept it simple & sexy in a low cut Narciso Rodriguez gown.

Lady Gaga, who is also another best actress of the night, looked so glamorous. She looked so poised and elegant, clearly the epitome of classic Hollywood glam in this Atelier Versace gown

Jennifer Lopez was a vision on the red carpet. Normally, I’m not a fan of bright colored dresses, but she rocked this Giambattista Valli gown so hard. It’s J. Lo for goodness sake. She rocks everything. I loved the cape and the diamond accents & accessories.

There will always be something so captivating about Amber Heard. I loved the rose colored sheer gown, but I could do without the floral neckline. Nevertheless, this Gucci gown on her still made her look like a classic beauty.

Joanne Froggatt in this lavender Reem Acra gown was beautiful. It’s simple yet elegant and I really loved this color on her.

DAPPER MEN

Who doesn’t love a man in a tux? A lot of the men went with the classic black tux, but Ryan Gosling decided to go with the white blazer. I can’t find any pics of Grant Gustin on the red carpet, but all I know is that he looks so dreamy in that John Varvatos tux :heart eyes:. And last but not least, we have the cutie Charlie Puth. We don’t normally get to see him in a tux, but he cleans up very well.

If you’ve reached this, I thank you for sticking with me. What were your favorite looks of the 2016 Golden Globes red carpet?
